Since 2011, Chillida Leku has been closed to the public and can only be visited by prior appointment. In this way, Chillida's Place is accessible to those interested in learning about the sculptor's work.

Visitors can enjoy the work of a universal artist in the intimacy of a space customised for his collection, which from time to time travels temporarily to museums around the world, as was the wish of Eduardo Chillida.

The Fundación Eduardo Chillida y Pilar Belzunce Foundation is a non-profit organisation and each year its activities are officially recognised as priorities for patronage.
Among its goals is the promotion and dissemination of the artistic work of Eduardo Chillida, and for this purpose its activities include: the maintenance of the Chillida Leku centre for the analysis and study of the archives about the artist and his work that the centre is home to; collaboration with the maintenance, conservation and promotion of the Chillida Leku space and a large proportion of the most representative works produced throughout the artist's life; the awarding of grants for the study of specific aspects of his work; the organisation of seasons of conferences and talks; and any other activity whose aim is to raise awareness about and promote this universal artist, both nationally and internationally.

The Fundación Eduardo Chillida y Pilar Belzunce Foundation has been registered in the Register of Foundations of the Basque Country (Spain) by order of the Basque Minister for Justice, Labour and Social Security, dated 27 November 2000, under reference No. F-92.
