- The documents that certify that a work of art by Eduardo Chillida is genuine can only be issued by the Chillida-Leku Museum Management Committee.
- The Committee will only accredit original works and single pieces (drawings, gravitations or sculptures). Serial reproductions such as engravings, lithographs, or silk screen prints will not be accredited, nor will manuscripts, signatures, or dedications be certified.
- In principle, the committee will only issue certificates guaranteeing the authenticity of works that have been directly examined. In exceptional circumstances, certificates will be issued for works that have not been physically examined at the Museum when these have been properly catalogued in the archive, and it is known where they are from and a record exists of these
- If a piece is not genuine the appropriate procedures will be set in motion and the relevant authority will be informed.
- The person asking for a piece to be certified will provide the Museum with all the documentation about the work of art, information on exhibitions, publications, previous owners, ands also current pictures. To be precise, you must send 3 photographs of the piece, if possible in 300p digital format, DinA4-size, or three photographs on 18 x 24 cm. paper, or three 35mm-slides. This documentation will then form part of the Chillida-Leku Museum archive.
- The person asking for the certificate will pay the financial cost of transporting the piece to the Museum to be examined not only when sending it but also when it is returned.
- The piece must be sent without being framed.
- The cost of initiating the procedure for requesting an authenticity certificate is 100 euros (+ VAT) and this must be paid by the person asking for the certificate into the account number: IBAN: ES49 0049 5310 8925 1104 4891 (SWIFT:BSCHESMM) As the purpose they must put: name and surname of the person asking for the certificate, request for an authenticity certificate. This sum will not be refunded if a certificate is not issued.
- The cost of issuing an authenticity certificate for an original piece is 400 Euros (+VAT) which will be paid into the same account number. This sum will always be paid into the account before the authenticity certificate is issued.
- Under no circumstances will duplicates or copies of certificates be issued.
- Once you have read the rules, please sign this document and send it to the Chillida-Leku Museum to show that you accept them.
