Mindfulness course of 8 weeks
"Between the no longer and the not yet"
- Event
This 8-week course offers an introduction to the practice of mindfulness, both for participants with no prior experience and for those who have been practicing for some time. The eight sessions are designed to explore the discipline of mindfulness, or full awareness, and to deepen the path of self-knowledge. Taking inspiration from Chillida’s own relationship with nature, space, and time, each session is conceived as an opportunity to open ourselves to being and presence, allowing ourselves to stop doing for a while. Making the most of the museum’s extraordinary surroundings, the program combines seated meditation practices, yoga-based movement practices—both indoors and outdoors—and walking meditation. In addition, in order to strengthen learning and group cohesion, participatory dynamics and activities are proposed at different moments throughout the course, inviting participants to explore and deepen their understanding of the mechanisms of the mind, the body, and the heart-mind.
Context
The present moment is the only one we truly have—the place where time and space converge. Yet it is also the place where we rarely allow ourselves to remain for long, lost as we are in our busy routines. In these routines the mind travels easily between the past and the future, between what must be done and what has already been done, often forgetting that before doing, we are—from the verb to be. What we call mindfulness, commonly translated as full awareness, is something so simple that it sometimes feels impossible: attending to the present moment exactly as it unfolds. It is an invitation to pause, and to return—ironically—to the only place we truly belong, because, as Chillida said: “Is it not between the no longer and the not yet that we were placed?”
