Presentation of Landscape Together, Shared mediations
- Event
The exhibition Shared Mediations, which opens on 13 February and runs until 13 April, is part of Landscape Together, a pioneering European cultural and educational cooperation project that uses art and culture as catalysts to generate positive change in the region and seek creative solutions to social and environmental issues. The project is part of the Creative Europe programme and aims to promote cooperation between artists and organisations working in the fields of contemporary art, education, cultural mediation and sustainable development. The project is led by MAG Marqués de Aguiar, an architecture studio in Porto, and is largely based in a pilot area in central Portugal, a region marked by the climate crisis and depopulation.
The exhibition brings together Chillida Leku's work as a partner in the project and displays photographic and audiovisual records of the actions carried out in 2024 both in the museum and in the pilot area of Portugal, in the municipalities of Idanha-a-Nova, Oleiros, Pedrógão Grande, Proença-a-Nova and Sertã. Chillida Leku's participation has been carried out by the Education Department with the aim of designing a mediation programme that would allow processes to be shared and knowledge to be transferred through the displacement of contexts.
Nagore Legarreta's photographs transcend documentary recording and offer an artistic and personal perspective that captures the energy, intensity and human and collective dimension of the project.
Beñat Iturrioz's video, from a poetic perspective, synthesises rhythms and atmospheres to construct a visual memory that prolongs the experience and connects the visible with the emotional.
The exhibition highlights the importance of cultural mediation as a process in constant transformation and attentive to the voices of the community. Mediation invites us to think about relational ways of inhabiting the world, connecting works of art with their environment, the present in which we live and the community that inhabits them.
