This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Pilar Belzunce, Eduardo Chillida's wife and a key figure in his life and artistic career. To commemorate this anniversary, Chillida Leku will be opening an exhibition on the 5th of June to celebrate her figure. Installed in room 5 of the Zabalaga farmhouse, the exhibition will reveal, through the portraits that Eduardo Chillida took of her and their eight children, small fragments of her identity as a woman of great determination, capable of being ahead of her time.

In this context, the figure of Pilar Belzunce is constructed from a selection of photographs and objects that link with her experiences through fragments full of memory, everyday life and anecdotes. It also brings together small sculptures and paintings that she herself made as a hobby that allow us to discover a real woman, a mother with firm convictions and present in a transversal way in Chillida's life and work.
The selection will also include drawings of figures made by Eduardo Chillida, many of which have never been exhibited and come from the family circle.
