Family art workshop: The red rooster

The Maushaus team will lead this workshop, which connects directly with the exhibition Limina by Koen Vanmechelen. It is conceived as an invitation to build bridges with nature and to reconnect with the wild with our most inner being. Vanmechelen’s CCP30 project uses chicken crossbreeding as a metaphor for diversity, identity, and the connection between humanity and nature. As part of this proposal, the educational activity “The Red Rooster” begins with a guided tour of the exhibition Limina – Cosmopolitan Chicken Project 30.

Afterwards, the workshop includes two creative exercises: In the first, “The Red Rooster’s Flock”, participants will make rooster and hen masks that symbolise diversity and shared cosmopolitanism stemming from a common origin.
In the second, “The Architecture of the Egg, or the Egg as Architecture”, families will work together to create small domestic structures designed for a "cosmopolitan egg" — a reflection on the fragility and boldness of this ovoid form as the first space of life, contrasted with the rigidity of straight lines that typically define human architecture.
